Top What do YOU think? (A review thread)

So I thought it'd be a great resource to have a thread where anyone and everyone can add their opinions about products they've tried - be it a pro brand or something that caught your eye when you were grocery shopping. I'm currently working on a FAQ page for HMS and it would be great to add a link to this thread.

I'll go first because I'm excited about the Australia Colour Inject glosses and lipsticks I tried (and subsequently bought) last weekend.

I love love LOVE these! Both the glosses and the lipstick are super vibrant. The gloss is still quite sheer, but still has the burst of colour the lipsticks do and they look awesome on top of the lipstick.

I bought the lipstick in Salsa which is similar to
this colour but a bit brighter. in some lights it looks quite red. I really wanted to get Flamenco (the one shown in the link above) but they store I went to was sold out, so I got the gloss in the same colour, Jazz. I'll be going back for the Flamenco lipstick though, it was full of hot pink awesomeness.

I've heard they don't last too long but I didn't find that to be the case with the lipstick. I'm yet to wear the gloss by itself.

Ok here I go  big_smile

My new addiction is Cover Girl Exact Eyelights Eyeshadow
I found it at Target while shopping for a new mascara. The colors attracted me, even though there is not fancy packaging with rainbows and unicorns on it.

I love this thing! You can match it to your eye color (yeah I got brown that is why the link brings you the brown shades) you can wear all 4 colors, or just 3 or just 2, and in any combination. And in any way, I keep mixing it up to see what would look good, and so far I came up with 5 different styles I like.  It really does give you an extra bust of color, and shine, my hubby says that my eyes sparkles (yeah well I know… he should say that all the times...but he doesn't)!!!
I have been playing with it for the past 2 weeks and still love it, thinking of including it in my pro kit (yeah I carry cover girl in my kit and even NY...so what???? I got all the fancies stuff too) Will start a Thread for MUA and kits in the future.
I use it alone or add a shadow primer under it, it works well either way, and I add the Exact Eyelight Mascara with it…the mascara has a small amount of sparkles in it!!

[color=#800080]Hahaha, you're hilarious!! So you find the CG eyeshadow to be pretty vibrant then?? I'm a bit afraid of CG, seeing you can buy it in small supermarkets here  <!-- s]

wink I play with everything that got color.

I usually have Urban Decay or Mac Eye Primer under it (especially if there is a camera anywhere near by)...so I guess that does boos the color and make it stay, but I do really like this particular set as it is big_smile
lol  I get stuck in Target/Sav-On/Walgreens for hours, usually get things for myself, but some do end up in my kit, I like variety, and I do not believe that there is a relation between price and quality when it comes to eye shadows.

Oooh yeah a good primer makes a huge difference!

Another review from meeeeeeeeeeee (and a new font colour too!)...

For eyeshadows, my favourite place is  - they have every colour imaginable in loose pigments and the professional colours are amazingly vibrant. All the other shadows are just as good though. I love mixing them with a medium, be it a gloss, cream or just a bit of water (at the time of each application, of course). I think I have about 50 colours and I use them for everything.

For their other products...

I do not like their lip stains, they're so dry and flat but not in an awesome matte lip way. Their silica gel primers are great for normal/oily skin, they really do control oil all day/night but not good for photography where it can make skin look a bit drier. Love the bamboo synthetic brushes, so soft and nice short handles.

I have some new products that I have been playing around with.

OCC Lip Tars, I got feathered = white, tarred = black, clear, nsfw = red, RX = blue, safety = orange, traffic = yellow, botanic = green and anime = pink. I was only really interested in the primary colours and the white, than I can make any colour, I couldn't walk past the pink though. I have not had a chance to use these on a shoot yet, just been playing around with them on myself. I have a beauty shoot this Sunday so I will be pulling them out to see how they/I go. I am in Australia so I got my lip tars from here

I have been playing around with loose pigments from Naked cosmetics, they were at the Sydney IMATS so a friend got some for me. Apparently they can be used for eye's, lips, blush and nail polish, when mixed with a medium. I have their eyeshadow primer and clear lip gloss that I have been using. I actually really like these. I have used Inglots loose pigments before, I think that the Naked cosmetics loose pigments are better. You can find them here

Oooh Tars are on my list of items for my next big shop, can't wait!

For foundation, my favorite is Cinema Secrets... The creams are so silky and give a beautiful, dewy finish. You hardly need any and are great for contouring, they blend so well. The palettes are a perfect size, I don't like getting too much of a foundation in one package as they can deteriorate after a while - though, with creams this isn't as common.

I'll never go back to liquids for photography!

I agree! I have been using Cinema Secrets foundation palettes for about a year now....love them! I would also like to try the RCMA foundation palette.

Oh yeah, the shipping charges will kill you! With delight, at least (ok, lame, I know)! Shipping is free for orders over $25! Or maybe it's $20?? I'm not sure about with an airbrush but they mix very well with any medium I've used.

Ok here is my review...

Loose powder…Ever wandered which is the perrrrrfect powder? One that is so amazingly fine and light based on pure rice starch providing a matte finish and visibly smoothing lines…

Well I have found the perfect powder!!! Ok I did not find it… my husband gave me a gift certificate at Alexander Perfumes & Cosmetics…and that is where I discovered T. LeClerc Loose Powder!

T. LeClerc Loose Powder has the properties to master light and hide flaws while enhancing the complexion, it can also protects against negative effects of the sun and is generally well-tolerated even by sensitive skin types!! I have become addicted to it!!! Over foundation or on a bright summer day…over lotion!I apply it with a velour puff or powder brush. The puff when I do not wear foundation and the brush with foundation. I add a tab bit more under the eyes so to cover little imperfections and give me an extra humph.

The powders come in a 35g hand-sealed silver metal tin, and 16 different shades. There are travel sizes (7g in travel sized tin) for some of the shades as well. It’s on the high end of the cost…$50, but I have purchased mine over a year ago and will, I still have 1/3 left… I also place a small amount in a smaller powder container for my travel kit/retouch kit, mostly travel since I rarely need to “power my nose” during the day. I do suggest to transfer the powder in a different container if you need to travel…unfortunately the metal tin the powder comes in looks very pretty but it’s a total pain in the butt!!!
Otherwise I love this thing!!!

Enjoy!

By the way I stole this form my blog LOL

Ok I have been slacking...but here it is!!!! The OTHER Powder...

HD Hight Dedinitnion Powder from Make UP For Ever

This is, according to me, The GOD of Powders or one of the best powders in the history of face powders!!!

So light, so fine, so wonderful and long lasting under the bright light of the studio light! A must have in every makeup kit, whether personal or professional

What it does:
MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Micro finish Powder provides all you need for a glowing complexion. This 100% mineral silica powder softens the appearance of imperfections, sets foundation, and mattifies the skin without changing its natural contours. Its translucent powder matches any skin-tones. For those of us obsessed with contouring this is perfect since it will not change the color of the contour application. It’s super fine and goes on easily, a little bit goes a loooong way.

What else you need to know:
It's free of talc and parabens and can be used on even the most sensitive of skins, and being free of Talc means that it great to use for photography…no shine!

What I find Amazing about the HD High Definition Powder:
1. can be used on any skin tone/color
2. It can be used on any skin types
3. Helps even out skin tones
4. It does not allow creasing
5. It removes even the most stubborn shine spot
6. It can be applied with a brush, sponge, napkin or Q-tip (for the difficult to reach areas!)
7. Less is more; a little bit goes a long way!
8. I only have to apply it once!

SO you wonder...did I not say the same darn thing about the Other Powder???
Well hey a girls has the right to change her mind, 2 isbetter than one, it's like having 2 lovers ;p

Cheers!!!

I am in love with this powder! Discovered it last year on a trip to Sephora in NY (went in to get Make Up Forever's black shadow and came out with half the store!  ).
Anywhos, I can attest to its greatness. Wonderful stuff. I was a little sceptic with my really dark skin but I've now been using it daily without foundation (just a little concealer) and it does the trick of toning down my oily skin without making me look ashy. It's really light and ALWAYS stays matte! I think my personal stash will be finished before the one in my kit!

LOL! Sephora can be Vicious for your wallet! But sooo pretty to the eye!

Ok here is my latest addiction...EMULSION LIP EXFOLIANT by Smashbox

One of the things I hate, aside from phone talking model is dry cracked lips...
Not only they are painful they look awful under lipstick...and not really nice to kiss....or do take pictures of!

My lips are always cracking, and got worst since I started the process of using invisalign braces (yeah I am vain and wanted my teeth straight) so I was recommended this by one of the "makeup-artist" at Sephora. (Not all Sephora's employee are or should be muas)
This is a sugar-based, peppermint-infused lip exfoliant that is packed with vitamins and soothing conditioners to smooth and soften lips, pretty smelling too. So you apply it on your clean lips...the little beads make you laugh because it tickles, and the peppermint make it cool, the cocoa and shea butter, grape seed extract and jojoba gives you a deeply conditioned feel Wipe away with a facial tissue.

Done! Smooth Kissable lips...at least for me

This is my next best friend after my 100% Natural Botanical Medley Chap Stick!!

I have to admit I am a huge fan of the accesorize make up range, oddly it works really well. The marbled blush makes a beautiful highlighter.

Plus I am dying to try Cazcarra airbrush foundations, I am a temptu and TSZ fan at the moment but the bottles are bigger and I am thinking cost effective long term.

Ben Nye fireworks wheels are a good alternative to the make up forever grease paint palette and cheaper, works really well.

Brush wise: mac, smashbox and nars.
