Top Which of these three edits should I go with?

I have 3 edit versions of a new image, 2 by me & one by a third party.
I'm trying to decide which version/edit to use.
Opinions, please?  (18+ image)

Version 1

Version 2

Version 3

I like Version 1 best. Followed by Version 3.

My vote goes to version 1 ---

In version 2 & 3 you lose the background to almost black and her hair is getting lost to the background.

The multi-colors in version 1 help add to the surreal nature of the image especially in the background.

Cool.  No manip on the background in #1, those're the real colors.

-I really like #1 with the original colors.
(Glenn and I rarely agree, he says I have no taste.)

-#2 and #3 respectivly.

Gorgeous image by the way.

I've always held the opinion that the choice of color vs BW is an integral part of the process, and should be made at the time of capture and not in post. Basically, you either see the shot in BW, or you don't, so that eliminates number 2 in my mind. I have also held the opinion that shit flying through the air for no reason is anathema to good taste, which is why I don't like the blue treatment.

A long winded way of saying I like the first version best, but at least now you know why I like it best.

Thanks Bob.  I usually do exactly what you say for B&W, and this piece was never intended for it.  That was an experiment.

Nice job by both Jaden in her posing and you with the capture, James. Of the three edits, I prefer #1 as the strongest image. The colors of the backround lend themselves nicely and Jaden is more a piece of the whole. In the B&W version (#2) the backround is lost and Jaden becomes more of the primary focus. The contrast is a mite strong IMO as well. I might have changed the crop to be tighter on her and perhaps vertical as opposed to the horizontal to reflect this. Maybe used the softer sepia tones. This is personal and totally subjective. In #3 the blue tones are too heavy for my tastes and arent enhancing the overall feel when compared to #1. Deep blue is a tough color to work with for me. MDI does it well IMO. Perhaps he might be willing to give you some tips?

Again, this is coming from a someone who hasn't taken any photography classes and admittedly hasn't a clue WTF he's doing more times than not! So take my input for what it's worth!  wink

I have to agree with the others.  The first edit - with, I gather, natural background colors - has a surreal quality to it that is enticing.  I far prefer it to the other versions.

And I love the shot.

My vote would be on version 1, and my second choice would be version 3.

#1 be my favorite because I like the color mix.

#3 would be my second.

It’s a toss up between 2&3. The color version #1 is good but too busy and I’m looking at the whole photo and not the subject. There is a lot of space around your subject and you don’t want to lose your viewer by having them stray from the subject. Version #2 is good even though you have loss some of the background. The brightness of your subject and tree trunk brings out your subject and grabs the viewer. Version #3 is very cool and again brings out your subject and grabs the viewer. Her hair gets lost in the background in this photo but it looks scary with the colors.
