photoshop elements 9 sugest any good...
I currently have photoshop elements 9 and I was wondering if anyone else is using this or are you using lightroom?
and if there are any addons you would suggest. If I need to be more specific mostly focusing on people and model photos but I of course do some landscape shots also.
Thank You
So whats the best product in photo shop ?
Elements ?
Is anyone using a Tablet and Pen ?
Intuit or Wacom OR is everyone mousing there path and clicking ...
i use a very old version of Photoshop (7) and Light Room 2.7. I don't have the latest and greatest version of PS, it probably has the same functions as LR plus more. PS Elements is the striped down consumer version. From what little I have seen of it. It isn't worth the install if you have PS or LR.
I am no expert, and I can be totally wrong (usually am on most things), so take my advice with a grain of salt.

If you can handle a mouse then no need for a pad. I have a pad but very, very seldom use it. Mostly for freehand drawing and even then the mouse gives you more control, depending on your drawing application. Photoshop is not designed to be a drawing application. It works about as well as driving a nail with a screwdriver. It will do the job, but there are better ones out there.

Translation, please?
if you can handle PS and or LR with a mouse, then there is no need to buy a tablet. I have both. I use the mouse for Photoshot and Lightroom. The only programs I use a tablet in are vector drawing programs like Illustrator, Corel Draw or Xara. Most of the time I will use a mouse in those applcations also. The only time a tablet is easier to use is when doing freehand drawing.
This is my opinion. Others might feel diferently, depending on their comfort level with a mouse.
Is that translation a little better Peter?

I have found that the tablet offers a vastly greater degree of tactility than does a mouse for editing bitmaps in addition to vector image drawing.
See... it is all up to your comfort level with a particuliar tool. I like mice, Peter like tablets. Both will do the same job.

sorry but I dont think its a matter of like but of functionality. You can do way more way faster with a tablet in PS or any equivalent editing program. finer control easier grabbing more precise input on irregular objects etc etc. You get a copy of some sort of PS with Wacom tablets for a reason. there just is no such thing as pressure sensitivity on a standard mouse.
I like my mouse. You like tablets... Whatever tool works for the artist. Some like pen and ink. Some like pencils... both create art.

Psst... Brent... This is a thread, and we where talking about adding on to graphics programs. Tablets and mice are the most common tools used to interface with graphics programs. I guess you could use a joystick, trackball, thumbpad... but why?

I don't know what kinds of plug-ins Elements accepts, but NIK and Alien Skin have a bunch of very cool plug-ins for Photoshop. Alien Skin Exposure is great converting your images to Black and White - either using a canned emulaiton of a popular film, or through an extensive user interface.

I think all Nik plug-ins work with Elements. I know I loaded Color EFX Pro 3.0 into Elements 8 before I upgraded to CS5.
