Top MAKEUP ARTIST PORTFOLIOS AND POSTING WORK ONLINE

Every Makeup Artist wants a perfect looking Portfolio. I've seen a lot in my 20 years plus in this industry. The biggest mistake that a lot of people make is that they think having more work shown is better. Truth is it is better having a smaller Portfolio with beautiful quality work than a huge one with sloppy work. I see it all the time, and people posting their work in many sites. You have to be picky on what you chose to have inside your portfolio. For myself I have many photos of my work I refuse to post because I feel they are not portfolio quality. Do not feel bad if you do not put all your work in it because it shows you have a standard. The same thing for models. Some put all there work in and they wonder why they do not get the jobs they seek.  Posting your work online its same guidelines. I am sure some of you have clicked on someones work photo online and gasped at the makeup work and say " Why would they post that work" and in a nut shell that persons work and names are marked negatively and think is that what you want someone to think when they see your work? A big thing a lot of MUA do not think about.. Before you post your work online always get the photographers permission it shows respect and make sure you never ever crop there watermark off from the photo. You always give people credit. If you know the model and hair stylist it is good to give them credit as well. I hope this has helped some of you who are starting your portfolios and keep on what you love doing!

I agree, but with the following addition:  the same concept applies equally to models and photographers as well.
