How old is too old to model?

Gee, did I sound testy? I didn't mean to at all. No need for breaking legs in here, but if you do it for a side job, there are some other folks I wouldn't mind watching get tuned up.

Not gonna shoot an 80 year old couple going at it. (not without incentive)

But I get what Bob is saying.
I shot a loaf of bread for an entire weekend in an effort to understand texture a little better.
Try it some time. Really amazing what a minor change to a light angle or a camera angle can do to make mundane look incredible

I'll be 29 this year. I've had three kids, and a rotten ten year marriage behind me.

Most days, I don't look 29. Some days, I look 129.

I've been toying with the idea of quitting. But then I hit a shot like the one from Wednesday, and I realize that because I chose the field I chose, and because I can still hit the mark like that and look good doing it- I don't care. I'm still getting work, I'm still happy in my niche, and I will continue to do the fetish work as long as I am still doing those two things.

And on the + side of the equation is that my age gives me a lot more confidence and daring in certain situations than someone with less life and work experience.

Girl, as long as your body still looks good and isn't quite sagging and wrinklely, I'd say you're good to go for a long time. IMO: Only high fashion has an age limit. Good luck to you!

Ive seen old and wrinkly model before...well..maybe not underwear modeling, but modeling none the less.
You just need to change what type of modeling you do.
But a good model will keep herself in good shape anyways.

I don't think there's a real age limit, honestly.

If you think about commercial models, you need older ones, too! I mean, what about those pictures of the elderly couple you see in the pharmacy? They're models, too! big_smile

I started modeling for art classes 32 years ago. A decade ago, I started acting. You are never too old to enjoy what you are doing. I will stop acting and modeling when I breathe my last.

Many photographers who work with me appreciate the maturity I bring to the table. I answer all emails, I answer my phone, I show up on time and ready to work when I am booked. That puts me way ahead of a large percentage of online models.

Is everyone going to have the need for a model my age? No. But as long as there are many who do, I will still keep modeling.

This is the oldest model I've worked with, although not by any large margin. She's no where close to being too old, based on her attitude and body.

So, I'd have to say, no sooner than 50, although it could be much sooner in individual cases.

1970's supermodel now 57. she's the one lounging in the photo. looks great to me. clearly she's taken care of herself vs abusing her body.

I used to think maybe 23 or 24, but really it doesn't matter. You can do whatever you put your mind to at any age.

A beautiful picture does not need a 20 something. It just needs 2 people with vision and a goal. Meet Phyllis, age 97... she is a doll and a swim instructor.

One of my biggest regrets since becoming a photographer is the day I saw a 92 year old woman wearing a shirt that said "been there, done that" and it was one of the few days I didn't have my camera with me.

I haven't been without a camera since.
